Red Light for Uber in Italy. The Court of Rome ordered the block, within 10 days, of car transfer services (Rome airport transfers, limo service,…) offered by UBER in Italy with the app Uber Black, (Uber operates in Milan and in Rome), and app Uber-Lux, Uber-SUV, X-Uber, Uber-XL, UberSelect, Uber-Van. It has been upheld an action for unfair competition of the Taxi trade associations.
The decision of the Ninth Civil Chamber of the Court of Rome comes after the two-year sentence is the Court of Milan, accepting an appeal of the Italy taxi and cab drivers, the judges had ordered the blocking of the app UberPop, one of the services made available by the US multinational and it allows anyone to become a taxi driver without a license. A block, then, also confirmed in recent weeks by the Turin Court.
With the ruling filed today, however, the Court of Rome, “confirmed the unfair competitive conduct” and stopped Uber Black and similar app.
Following this ruling the Court of Rome, Uber may have to cease all activities in Italy, since the services offered were recognized in conflict with national law and unfair competition with other operators: Milan and Rome taxis in particular.
You can no longer take UBER to and from Fiumicino and Ciampino airport, as Uber Rome Airport transfer service was declared illegal.
